A Costa Rica Christmas is a little different than what you might be used to where you are from. When we experienced our first Costa Rica Christmas…it didn’t feel like Christmas.
But…that is because we are conditioned to think Christmas time should be cold or have snow on the ground. But in Costa Rica, you’ll never experience a White Christmas.

Costa Ricans enjoy Christmas like anyone else in the world and if you have grown up in Costa Rica or after you’ve been here a while…then the way Christmas feels…will change for you too.
We noticed a few things that were different when we compared Christmas in Costa Rica to how we were raised in the United States.
One of the things that were usual for us…was that Costa Ricans would put their Costa Rica Christmas Tree on their porch. What a great idea. Just helps to make the outside of your house that much more decorative.
Ticos also have different Costa Rica Christmas celebrations and Costa Rica Christmas Traditions.
I don’t know if you could call this a Costa Rica Christmas Tradition or not…but a LOT of Ticos go to the beach for Christmas. That is very different for a lot of people…but it’s still a great place to celebrate Christmas.
The Costa Rica Christmas meal is a bit different as well. It is traditional to prepare tamales for Christmas.
